Littoral administrative authorities pledge to assist the disabled

More than 500 disabled students in the Wouri Division of the Littoral Region have received scholarships from the Ministry of Social Affairs.

This was during activities organized on the occasion of the 23rd edition of the International Day of the disabled.

The celebrations were chaired by the Senior Divisional Officer for Wouri, Naseri Paul Bea.

On this day organized under the theme “Sustainable Development, the Promise of Technology,” some disabled persons received wheelchairs from a non- Governmental Organisation, Handi-Plus.

The Divisional Delegate of Social Affairs for Wouri, Marie Diné Bouem, said close to 3,000 persons live with disabilities and over 500 of them are students in the Wouri Division.

While appreciating Government’s assistance to the disabled, a representative of the group called on competent authorities to provide them with free medical care.

The Senior Divisional Officer for Wouri, Naseri Paul Bea promised to transmit their request to the appropriate quarters.
