The Bishop of Buea, his Lordship Immanuel Bushu, recently doused the anxiety of Christians when he joined the staff and students of the Catholic University Institute of Buea, CUIB, the Buea Diocesan Priestsand Christ’s faithful in a thanks- giving mass organised in his honour.

The CUIB community and the Buea Diocesan Priests were thanking God for guarding and sustaining the Bishop through a surgicaloperation.

Speaking during the holy mass, Mgr. Bushu thanked the medical team of Mount Mary Hospital Buea, those of Notre Dame Douala and Carolinas Medical Center, USA for the wonderful care given to him during the period of his ill health.

He equally thanked the students and staff of CUIB and the Christians of Buea Diocese who visited him whilehe was confided to the hospital and those who prayed for him.
According to the Bishop, God answered their prayers and saw him through the surgery.

Mgr.Bushu said he was diagnosed of excessive protein in his body that could lead to prostate cancer, if he was not operated upon. Even though the Bishop refused to be flown abroad for medical care, after persuasion from his close aides and the Bishop of St. Charlotte, Mgr. Mauricio West, he decided to seek medical attention abroad.

The Chief Shepherd of the Buea Diocese enjoined all to trust in the healing power of Christ. According to him, his medical sojourn has taught him to depend solely on the healing power of God.

“Just like Joseph whom God allowed to be sold into Egypt as a slave in order for Him to show His might to the Israelites, so too does God permits us to go through trying periods in order for usto come closer Him ,” the Bishop said.

On his part, the President of CUIB, Fr. George Nkeze said despite the persistent refusal of the Bishop to seek medical attention abroad, they thought that the Bishop needed the best healthcare services.
On why the special thank-giving mass, Fr. Nkeze said there are only manifesting the healing power of God.

According to the CUIB President, some maliciousmedia reports had gone viral that the Bishop was suffering from an incurable cancer and that he was not going to recover from it.

To Fr. Nkeze, the thanks-giving mass was to tell such rumour mongers and peddlers that the healing power of God is efficient and that it’s only God that can decide on the destiny of any persons.

In psalms and songs of praise, the students, Priests and Christians thanked God for preserving the life of the Bishop.
