Yaoundé hosts international consultation meeting on Customs

The Directors General of customs in Cameroon, the CAR and Chad will meet on August 20, 2015, in Douala, as part of a two-day meeting.

The meeting, the second of its kind, had the overall objective to set up a permanent consultation platform to harmonize the positions of the three states and provide solutions to the problems linked to the transit of goods between Cameroon, the Central African Republic and Chad.

More specifically, there will be a bid to consider the modalities of implementation of the global bond, in accordance with the provisions of the new regime of Community transit in the Cemac zone. This is to consider the practical modalities for the extension of the system + Nexus to Central African and Chadian customs and to engage in reflection on the specific case of containers cleared but not out of the port of Douala, among others.

As a prelude to the work, national experts in transit began a preparatory meeting on Monday in Douala.
