Ya-Fe: Timid take-off

The Yaounde commercial trade fair popularly referred to as “Yaounde en Fete” aka “Ya-Fe” has opened its doors.

Ya-Fe scheduled to run till 4th January 2015, kicked off very timidly this 18th December 2014 at its usual venue, the May 20 Avenue.

Visitors to the exhibition grounds were yet to experience the habitual vibration and colour of the fair.

While some stands are yet to be erected, curious visitors have been peeking in, seeking information on when the trade fair will effectively start.

A member of the Ya-Fe organizing committee, Guy Mapondjou noted that the fair is always organised to permit people have a great end of year celebration.

This year’s event will include displays in over 200 stands by enterprises dealing in diverse products.

Relaxation points including bars, games, swings and the carousel add up to fanfare at the May 20 Avenue.

Guy Mapondjou added that Ya-Fe will feature stage presentations by young talented people and guest artists.

One major innovation is the reinforcement of security at the grounds for the 18-day event.

Organizers say the trade fair shall be open from 10 am to midnight with an entry fee of 300 CFAF.
