The Western Union Foundation, charity branch of the money transfer giant, just handed a cheque of $ 200,000 (approximately 100 million FCFA) to officials of SOS Children's villages, a charitable organization that is responsible for the supervision of orphans, abandoned and vulnerable children on the African continent.

According to the Western Union Foundation, this gift was obtained thanks to the contributions of Western Union agents in the world and it will help SOS children's villages to educate its residents in 15 African countries, including Cameroon.

"The Foundation is dedicated to the creation of a better world, where the possibility to realize dreams through economic opportunities is not a privilege limited to few, but a right for all," said Patrick Gaston, President of the Western Union Foundation.

According to him, "this gift will have a direct impact on more than 700 orphaned African abandoned and vulnerable children, through increased opportunities for access to education through scholarships and the distribution of essential supplies of schooling; improving the quality of education at primary and secondary level by the construction of new infrastructures and enrichment activities; and finally through the integration of new technologies into the curriculum.
