Vegetable oils threatened by pricing in the market

Vegetable Oil Vegetable Oil

A statement by the Cameroonian Finance Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey earlier in September, outlining the temporary suspension of the presentation of import declaration and certification of import verification, may be threatened by pricing in the market.

The Secretary General of the Association of Refiners of Oilseeds in Cameroon (ASROC) Jacquis Kemleu Tchabgou poorly digested this news release. He said the measure to facilitate clearance of goods, will promote the massive and uncontrolled imports, particularly vegetable oils.

For this, he recalled during a press conference at the premises of the ASROC on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, that the industrialization of the head of state policy does not encourage the import of finished products that contribute nothing to our national economy.

Despite this gesture, the sector of Oilseeds that has already invested more than FCFA 600 billion and created more than 50,000 direct jobs is practically in crisis. A crisis caused by massive imports of vegetable oils that do not respect the rules on pricing and mandatory standard.

Thus, operators of the oilseed sector otherwise require without delay cancellation of all import authorizations of plant oils that do not respect the regulations in force and the systematic control of secondhand containers to detect refined oil cargoes that are concealed there.
