Tea Estate to quadruple production in 2016-2017

According to Dagobert Boumal, the Director General of the Cameroon Tea Estate (CTE), agro-industrial Company that operates tea plantations in the region of northwestern Cameroon aims to quadruple its production of tea in 2 or 3 years (by 2016 or 2017). This production is currently between 5,000 and 7,000 tonnes per year, he noted.

Indeed, since May 2, 2014 and on November 7, 2014, the CTE has been the holder of amenities at the rates of CEMAC and ECCAS documents respectively, giving now the possibility to export its products duty-free to the 6 and 10 countries of Central Africa.

There is a real bargain for this agro-industrial company that is evolving in a sector in which the "local market is facing competition without rules", recognizes Cameroonian Trade Minister Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana.

Indeed, against the invasion of the Cameroonian market of tea by products originating mainly from China, local producers market their production 'mainly in the Central Africa region", the Minister Mbarga Atangana stressed.
