South Korea intensifies cooperation with CMR

The president of the Republic received in audience on Friday the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Cho June-hyuck. Maintenance of half an hour between the president of the Republic and its host was an opportunity to assess bilateral cooperation between Cameroon and South Korea.

Ambassador June-hyuck Cho revealed to the press the welcoming and rich exchange he had with the head of State with, prominently, the appreciation of the excellent bilateral relations between Cameroon – South Korea.

The South Korean diplomat thanked, through the head of State, the Government for the facilitation of the implementation of several major projects in Cameroon, with the assistance of the Republic of South Korea.

These projects include: professional training centres of excellence (CFPE) Douala, Limbe and Sangmelima, the national Centre for medical emergencies in Yaoundé; and many other projects in the area of information and communication technologies.

Remembering thereon until 1 July last, under the terms of a framework agreement signed between Ambassador Cho June-hyuck and the Minister in charge of economy and planning, Korea gave Cameroon a first donation of 3,2 billion for the construction and equipment of the national Institute of training of trainers and development of programs (INFFDP), and a second F 800 million for the establishment of a master plan E - procurement in Cameroon, a project specifically designed to improve transparency in the administration of public procurement and efficient procurement system.

To note other outstanding fruit in the Cameroon - South Korea cooperation, in the field of ICT, the establishment on October 29, 2012, through the Korean International cooperation Agency (KOICA), of the public key National Infrastructure (INCP), an instrument of very high technology dedicated to the protection of the Cameroonian cyberspace and allowing to effectively combat cybercrime.

This overview of the major actions carried out in some three years in Cameroon-Korea cooperation justifies the feeling of great satisfaction expressed by the South Korean Ambassador: "we are very satisfied with the level of our bilateral cooperation with Cameroon.

And the best is yet to come. We have to go much further, not alone but together. Korea wishes to be a genuine win-win partner with Cameroon, continuing to devote its energy and commitment to this bilateral cooperation”.

Asked what memories he carries of Cameroon, Ambassador Cho June-hyuck said he keeps in the first place the image of a country of peace, a precious element in Africa: "the difference in several parts of Africa, Cameroon is a very peaceful country; a fact that the international community appreciates.

In my opinion, the preservation of this image is an important issue that requires the efforts of Cameroon and the international community".
