Société Générale (SGBC) poach UBA CEO

Georges Wega, Director General of the Cameroon subsidiary of UBA, has been hired by Société Générale Cameroon, according to yesterday’s 07/07/2014 Daily Economy newspaper in which Jean Philippe Guillaume, the current DG of the Cameroon subsidiary confirms the information.

While certain credible sources announce Georges Wega at the post of DGA of the Société Générale Cameroon, Guillaume states that the former CEO of UBA was simply hired as a "senior", while waiting for the pending proceedings concerned with the gendarme of the banking sector in the CEMAC zone.

This recruitment occurred almost immediately after the employees of Société Générale Cameroon went on strike for two days to protest against the unfair dismissal of a colleague and violations of workers' rights perpetrated by the CEO and HR.
