Public Contracts: Challenges awaiting Fritz Nasako

53 –year old Fritz Gerald Nasako is now the Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Contracts. He was commissioned into his new duty on December 30, 2015 by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Public Contracts, Abba Sadou, following his appointment as Secretary General of that Ministry on December 22, 2015 by the President of the Republic.

Commissioning the Super-scale Senior Civil Administrator from the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM), Minister Abba Sadou reminded him of the important assignments that awaits the new scribe notably the revision of the public contracts code, the effective putting in place of the E-Procurement System amongst others.

The new Public Contracts scribe was also urged to wage a merciless war against corruption and bottlenecks as well as ensure the enforcement of capacity of actors in the sector while following up with engagement all actions of the ministry. Fritz Gerald Nasako was also enjoined to relentlessly follow up priority projects of the triennial emergency plan, structural projects and projects earmarked for the AFCON 2016 and 2019.

Born on February 20, 1962 in Lobe, Ekondo Titi Sub-division in the South West Region, Fritz Gerald Nasako obtained his Advanced Level Certificate in 1980. He proceeded to the University of Yaounde where he enrolled in the Faculty of Law and Economic Science and graduated in 1985 with a Master’s Degree (DEA). He then enrolled into ENAM where he did Civil Administration with specialisation in Economic Finance.

His rich professional career in different ministerial departments where he occupied various positions led to his pioneer appointment as Secretary General in 2003 in the Ministry of Mines, Water and Energy and later Water and Energy. Until his appointment as SG of MINMAP on December 22, 2015, Fritz Gerald Nasako was the Secretary General of the Ministry of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure.
