Orange Cameroon to invest 1500b FCFA over the next 10 years

The Executive Director of the mobile operator Orange Cameroon, Elisabeth Medou Badang announced in an interview with the Government daily that this subsidiary of France Telecom plans to invest nearly 1500 billion Cfa francs over the next 10 years, for the development and operation of its network of telecoms on the Cameroonian territory.

"Our desire to invest in the submarine cable ACE (Africa Coast to Europe) remains as the lever of optimization of Internet access. We will implement as soon as regulation permits; it will go same for access to mobile broadband', said the CEO of Orange Cameroon, revealing at the same time the major investment of the company in Cameroon.

Indeed, since 2010, this mobile operator negotiated with the Cameroonian Government, the deployment of the submarine cable ACE, with the length of 17 000 Km, linking the West coast of Africa to the European continent. ACE was built by a consortium of 17 operators, including France Telecom, the mother house of Orange Cameroon, which proposes to construct the point of siltation of ACE in Kribi, in the region of the South of the country.

Furthermore, Orange renegotiates currently with the Cameroonian Government the renewal of its mobile licence at the beginning of the year 2015.
