Nexttel could reduce tariffs by 2015 due to high competition

Cameroon telecommunications market has been quite dynamic since the beginning of the year 2015, with regard to call rates.

Certainly, the Africa Cup of Nations arrived with a lot of promotion and attractive packages from the operators Orange Cameroon, MTN Cameroon, Viettel Cameroon and Camtel, the incumbent. However, these operators believe the trend will continue throughout the year.

Nexttel (Viettel Cameroon), the last of the mobile operators to acquire licence to operate in the country, did not follow the pace of reductions. The Vietnamese operator had sought an extension of the period of exclusivity on the 3G, but this year its main competitors are in negotiations with the Government thus this no longer favours the Nexttel query to limit this 3G technology to a single operator.

Its major asset will thus be shared by all operators in the country. According to Beaugas - Orain Djoyum, the time has come for Nexttel to reduce its rates (calls and data) which is the highest in the market because of the quality of service offered as well as the fact that it is one of the readily available technologies in the country.
