The Vietnamese telecoms operator, Viettel, which operates in Cameroon under the Nexttel brand, has already invested more than 200 billion FCfa for the development of its network in the country.

The network currently comprises of 1,200 BTS and 1,600 sites, which enables it to cover the 10 regions of the country and 95% of the Cameroonian population.

The 39 year old Cameroonians who claims 16 years of professional experience including 11 years in the telecom sector, will "support the sales and marketing policy, brand development, production viable income, development units market and the reform of communication” of the company.

Suffice to say that a daunting task awaits the newly promoted and that takes the head of one of the most strategic directions of the first installer of a 3G license in Cameroon which is visibly struggling to make its mark in a market where MTN and Orange, which introduced 3G since early this year, preceded 14 years earlier.

In May 2015, Nexttel, who had obtained the license for its operation in 2012, took two years to finally start operations in September 2014, claiming about 2 million subscribers as compared to the 10.1 million subscribers for MTN Cameroon in late 2014 and 6.2 million subscribers for Orange Cameroon.
