New transport sys. to facilitate distribution of goods

A grant for the facilitation of operations between producers and merchants was presented to the press Thursday in Yaounde.

"The BFTC is a platform created to facilitate exchanges between the different actors, including shippers, traders, farmers, ranchers, industries and markets, or even the population", explains Aboubakar Ngoma Awoumo, administrator director-general of the stock exchange.

He explained that this idea was developed after several findings on the field. Today, due to poor transport system, the rural population is struggling to transport its products to markets.

In practice, the peasants from Mbangassina for example, come to Yaoundé to rent vehicles. They pay transport to go to their farms and still pay on their return. "We therefore decided to place the BFTC offices in each agricultural and fisheries production basin, to ease the problem of transporting goods from the farms", said Aboubakar Ngoma Awoumo.

Officials of the BFTC are thus supported by administrative partners, including the Ministry of Commerce, but also technical, including Innovative Logistics and Transport, specialized among others in the transportation of persons or goods.

"With this partner, we will install GPS in our vehicles, so that you have an idea of the location of all trucks in various parts of the country. Therefore, the cost of transport is minimized, and this will reduce the price of food in the market.

To benefit from the Exchange services, "the conditions are simple. There will be a fee schedule for the various stakeholders and sectors of activity (truckers, insurers, farmers, retailers, etc.) To join, the truckers for example pay 10,000 F. For farmers, it varies from 5 to 10,000 F according to the products among other criteria.
