A new Turkish cement factory will soon be operational in Essengue at the Douala port area.

If all conditions are met, the first bag of Medecem will be on the market by end of August.

The announcement was made at the end of a visit paid by the Ambassador of Turkey in Cameroon, Omar Faruk Dogan, and three businessmen to the Governor of the Littoral region, Joseph Beti Assomo, on Friday, July 31, 2015.

For the diplomat and the investors, the most effective way to block the rise in extremism is to increase investments which will fight against youth unemployment and reduce poverty.

The construction of this cement plant is ongoing and the installation work is already over 90% complete. The raw materials will come from Turkey. Tahar Ozbey, representative of the investors, disclosed that the cement plant will be able to produce 600,000 tonnes per year.

The Ambassador of Turkey, quoted in the national daily on Monday, said “Cameroon occupies a strategic place in the sub-region.Our country must take advantage of this position to play its locomotive role and help curb the terrorist sect Boko Haram.".
