New Bamenda SMEs taxation office opens

The new Medium Size Taxation Office situated on Ayaba Street in Bamenda, Northwest Region, went operational on January 1, 2016, to cater for the needs of tax payers whose indexes were published recently.
The Director General of Taxation, Modeste Mopa Fatoing, has appealed to the population of the Northwest to make good use of the services provided by the new office created by Ministerial Order No. 00000405/MINFI of November 2, 2015.

"Payment of taxes shall be carried out by bank transfers to the Tax Collector’s bank account number 120010062711111111111113. Consequently, all taxpayers belonging to this centre who do not have an account in an authorized banking institution are called upon to open one as soon as possible," reads a communiqué published in a press release.

The ultimate goal of this endeavour is to improve the quality of services offered to the major tax payers of the Northwest Region, reduce compliance costs and enhance revenue collection for the State and decentralised local authorities.

Speaking during a press briefing in Bamenda on December 28, 2015 the Northwest Regional Chief of Taxation, Fidelis Fonyuy Bernsah, said the new office will curb fraud, enhance customer relationship with tax payers as well as facilitate follow-up by tax controllers assigned to operate as account managers under the supervision of the Regional Tax Centre Head.
The centre will also serve tax payers who were previously managed by the large tax unit in Yaounde.

According to Fonyuy, this centre will play a major role as a one-stop shop which is a great relief to tax payers in the Region.
