Minpmeesa presents Statistical Yearbook for 2013

Presentation of the Statistical Yearbook of Minpmeesa was done on Wednesday in Yaounde.

According to records, the largest number of promoters in Cameroon, or 30% of the 88,643 existing structures, did go through secondary education.

In any case, they only have the certificate of primary education (CEP). They are followed by the holders of the patent of the undergraduate study (GCE) or the certificate of vocational aptitude (CAP), 22%. Then comes those without diplomas, 16%. Those with Bac + are barely 5%. And on the whole, women are in the majority.

These data and hundreds of others are contained in the Statistical Yearbook 2013 of the Ministry of small and medium-sized enterprises in the social economy and handicrafts (Minpmeesa). A document produced in collaboration with the national Institute of statistics (INS) and made public Wednesday in Yaoundé.

At the presentation ceremony, we learned that the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises, social economy and handicrafts takes more than 97% of the national economic fabric, but was not sufficiently taken into account in the current statistical system, because of the size of the informal sector and the poor keeping of administrative registers.

"2013 Statistical Yearbook is therefore a centralization of data document, designed as a tool for decision support. It will enable the Minpmeesa to evaluate the various policies developed and implemented, to know if they have been performed and especially, if they bear the expected fruits", explained the Secretary General of Minpmeesa. In short, the directory will be used to compare the situation of departure of SMEs and that today, in order to improve or booster actions.

Overall, the directory presents data on the normative and institutional evolution Minpmeesa from 2004 to 2013, an overview of the business environment of Cameroon, polluted by power cuts, tape, unfair competition and difficulties in access to finance, among others. We found a measure of production levels and the contribution of SMEs to the growth, with added value average of 108 million and an average of 40 permanent employees. Finally, the State of implementation of policies for the promotion and framing, noting that the sector is growing significantly.
