Korea evaluates its support to the development of Cameroon

In 2014, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has invested 2.5 billion FCFA to finance projects.

In 2014, there were 29 Korean volunteers scattered nationwide. Their mission was to support communities in their development process, specifically in the areas of health, education and vocational training of people. To assess the achievements of the year drawing to a close, no less than fifteen local private and public partners from the ten regions of the country took part in the 2014 assessment meeting held on 28 November in Yaounde.

In 2014, the Korea Development Agency invested 2.5 billion FCFA to finance projects. The 29 Korean volunteers, all students of Korean universities, were dispatched to the field in order to apply their technology for development.

During the meeting, results of this year's list of achievements confirmed the good impact of the Korean government program: development of the computer room of Nkol-Eton High School in Yaoundé, accompanying many young people including the student's of grammar school Limbe in its computerization project of the library of the establishment, training and support of agriculture and livestock farmers are among other major activities in recent months.

"We are very pleased with the volunteer program developed by KOICA. Many people have not mastered the methods and growing conditions of some commodities such as rice. But with these young Korean volunteers, we learned and some Cameroonians have mounted projects the KOICA supported," says Adrienne Tata, head of the regional and local development community in the Central region.

All these initiatives according to the KOICA Resident Representative, Kim Tae-Young, "will form part of a solidarity of the Republic of Korea plan and thus aim to support countries in their actions against poverty."

On September 30, 2011 the Korean Development Agency settled in Cameroon. It has already deployed nearly 100 volunteer experts in education, fisheries and agriculture, community development, social affairs, computer science, health, learning the Korean language and taekwondo.

In terms of construction, KOICA boasts several works like schools and hospitals. The best known is the hospital emergency center in Yaoundé. Also, KOICA involved in good governance. In this sense, the introduction of e-commerce, e-banking and postal service in Cameroon by this friendly country.
