Work to develop an important road link in Cameroon is benefiting from Japanese funding. The Japanese international cooperation agency JICA is providing close to US$42 million for work to build the 67.5km road connecting Lélé in Cameroon with Mintom in neighbouring Congo-Brazzaville.

The funding is sufficient to ensure Cameroon will now be able to complete work on the route.

The section forms part of the Djoum – Ketta trunk road, itself part of the route linking Sangmélima in Cameroon with Ouesso in Congo.

The total cost of the work to upgrade the Cameroon section of the Sangmélima – Ouesso route is around $201 million. XOF 119.80bn. The road measures 651km long, with 335km in Congo and 216km in Cameroon.
