Govt signs 4 loan agreements for Batshenga-Yoko road project

The Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT), Emmanuel Nganou and a group of benefactors met in Yoko in Mbam-et-Kim, the Central Region to finalize four funding agreements for the rehabilitation of the Batshenga-Ntui-Yoko-Lena road.

The Yoko meeting which took place on Saturday, March 28 led to the signing of funds amounting to 176 billion CFA F to solve the plight of those who use the Batshenga-Ngaoundéré through Ntui, Yok, Lena, Doume and Tibati roads.

The contribution of the donors towards the financing of the construction of national no. 15 were 101 billion FCFA from African development Bank (ADB), 9 billion CFA F offered by African Fund for Development (FAD), 40 billion CFA F from Development Bank of the States of Central Africa (BDEAC) and 26 billion CFA F from Japanese Agency for International Cooperation (JICA) making a total of 176 billion CFA F.

Government on the other hand would add 26 billion CFA F in financing the Agence française de développement (AFD) and an amount of 43 billion FCFA to serve in the construction of a 400-metre bridge on the Sanaga River at Nachtigal and the development of 24 km ramp linking Nachtigal Ntui.

According to the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works, in charge of roads, Hans Nyetam Nyetam, “Feasibility studies have already been made, tenders are ready to be launched and the choice of companies for the construction will follow soon”.

Present at the meeting were the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT) Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi; Secretary at the Ministry of Public Works, in charge of roads, Hans Nyetam Nyetam; and Minister of Government Procurement Abba Sadou. Mayor of Yoko, Dieudonné Annir Tina was also present aside the many authorities from the Eastern Region.

On the other hand the foreign side included representatives from the African development Bank (ADB) and the African Fund for Development (FAD), Racine Kane; the Development Bank of the States of Central Africa (BDEAC), Michael Adand; and the Japanese Agency for International Cooperation (JICA) Shinji Umemoto.
