Government to build a third bridge over river Wouri

The Ministry of Public Markets has released a restricted international tender to 10 companies and consortia, for "the studies of the bypass of the city of Douala, with the construction of a third bridge over Wouri river."

Among these companies invited to bid are two Tunisian groups (Scet-Tunisie-Didon Conseil et Comete-Luxan), the French BET Louis Berger and Cameroonian BET such as, Ecta BTP, Egis Cameroun, Sadeg, Beta Consult and Integc, all in a consortium with other foreign companies.

According to the government, the call for tender is to "conduct a technical feasibility study of the proposed bypass of the city of Douala and the construction of the third bridge over the Wouri river that integrates socio-economic and environmental aspects of the site; prepare tender documents for the project, the project management work and assistance; develop financial estimate (target cost) of the operation.”

Companies shortlisted are to deposit 35 million CFA francs, as well as pay 500 000 CFA francs for the purchase of tender documents.

The final winner will run a 26-month contract for the execution of the project with a budget of about 1.8 billion CFA francs, as the estimated value of the contract, the government said.

Bids are expected to be sent to the Public Procurement desk no later than 27 August 2014.
