First edition of Agricultural Machinery Fair opened in Yaoundé

The first International Agricultural Machinery Fair of Cameroon (Simac), themed "Agricultural Revolution: Issues and challenges for a performing and sustainable agriculture", was opened on December 15, in Yaoundé.

This event, organised at the Palais des Congrès-Yaoundé by the Chamber of Agriculture, will end on 20 December.

For five days, the participants will exchange on themes such as funding for the rural world, agricultural crafts, mechanisation of agriculture, or local flavours and packaging, international cooperation, among others.

Presented as the meeting of agriculture professionals, Simac 2015 gathers producers' cooperatives, agricultural inputs and equipment suppliers, financial investors and agribusiness units.

"We want to bring together agricultural machinery users and manufacturers so that the latter will take note of the local reality. What we want to do through this Fair, is to make agricultural machinery manufacturers adapt to production units, not the opposite", Moussa Koue, Vice-President of the Chamber of Agriculture, explained.
