The promotion of fish farming project launched by the Cameroonian Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries in the locality of Gounougou, a village in the district of Lagdo reservoir in the Far North of the country, has just delivered its first results.

During a recent visit by Minister Taiga, it was noted that this project facilitated the production of 16 tonnes of fish after seven months of operation.

According to the predictions by those responsible for this project, two other productions are expected in October and December, with four and five tonnes as respective volumes.

What will match a production of approximately 25 tonnes in the district of Lagdo, whose populations are more accustomed to fishing thanks to the dam built in this part of Cameroon.

Thanks to this project, which will provide 100 tons of fish on two annual cycles in the production phase, the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries intends to reduce the deficit of production in this part of the country during the biological rest period. Fishing is one of the main income-generating activities for people, with rice cultivation.
