During the visit of the Director-General of FAO to Cameroon from September 3 to 5, 2015, José Graziano Da Silva signed a cooperation agreement on a programme to promote and develop agriculture in the country with the Cameroonian Minister of Agriculture, Essimi Menye.
Implemented over a period of 5 years, this program, whose contours have not been specified will cost about 10 billion FCFA.
The Director General of FAO was received by the Prime Minister and also expressed his gratitude to the government of Cameroon for the efforts made in recent years in the fight against hunger. The two officials signed an agreement in order to transform FAO representation in Cameroon into a diverse liaison office.
According to the government, the establishment of the FAO liaison office will allow Cameroon to dispose, on the spot, FAO experts in various fields.
These will then be directly available, in order to more effectively contribute to conduct and monitor the programmes carried out in partnership with the government of Cameroon.
