Upgrade the roads and rural tracks, build warehouses for agricultural products, install drinking troughs for livestock, and above all, create jobs over a period of 18 months for the youth in the Extreme-North region of Cameroon, by favouring the employment-intensive investment method (EII) in the management of different projects.

These are the goals of the FCfa 6.6 billion funding granted by the Cameroonian government as part of the National Programme of Inclusive Development (PNDP). The funds meant to give a boost to the economic activity in the Extreme-North region come, we learned, from the European Union Fiduciary Fund.

Remember, for several months now, the Extreme-North region of Cameroon has been the target of the Nigerian Islamist sect Boko Haram, whose various acts of violence and the resulting insecurity climate have jammed the economic activity. Additionally, this area of Cameroon has become the secure location for thousands of Nigerian refugees running away from Boko Haram.
