Economic experts discuss AFCON 2019

A dinner debate has taken place in Yaounde to evaluate economic benefit Cameroon will derive by hosting the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Discussions during the roundtable on 19th November 2014, centred on ways of making the 2019 AFCON profitable to Cameroon and Cameroonians.

The dinner organised by the Cameroon Business Leaders Group, GICAM brought together managers and officials of the private sector to discuss means of making the event an advantageous one, while preventing setbacks like poor management as has been recorded in other countries.

During the meeting, the GICAM representatives and other participants debated on four main points:

- General stakes of the competition and measures to involve companies in preparation works, as a means of accelerating growth.

- The principal projects to be realised.

- Making Cameroon a tourist destination at the wake of the nations’ cup by equipping it with touristic infrastructure.

- Examination of the companies to clear obstacles on their way and encourage a good market ahead of the event
