Dja Mining loop: Coordinator takes office

Talatala Blondeau, the coordinator of the integrated development program and development of Dja mining loop and the adjacent border area, was installed yesterday.

Family members and the elite of the regions of the East and South and many others were at the conference hall including members of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Planning (Minepat).

There was a satisfaction focused on their son, but also faced with the recognition that this action prepares for a better tomorrow for both regions. The Dja mining loop is located on the plateau of southeastern Cameroon to the border with the Republic of Congo.

It includes the communes bordering the wildlife reserve and the Dja Biosphere, the protected area of the forest of Ngoyla-Mintom and Nki National Park. However, it finds itself exposed to direct impacts due to industrial exploitation of minerals such as iron in Mbalam.

For Minister Louis Paul Motaze, there is no way to exploit the wealth of this part of the country without being able to allow the people benefit. The program aims at improving the living conditions of populations and promote cross-border trade in the said area.

"It will be mainly to develop socio-economic infrastructure development, as part of the operation of Mbalam iron ore and other mining projects structuring," said Louis Paul Motaze.

The program that will extend for over five years is built around the growing infrastructure and institutional development component. All of which involve the opening up of the Dja mining loop and adjacent border areas, development of roads, classrooms, and development that is also sustainable to tourism activities and securing the border area.

In order to facilitate cross-border trade, Blondeau Talatala would capitalize on government projects for the construction of a railway junction on the side of Nabeba, Congolese town located 70 Km from Cameroon and Chollet hydroelectric dam 600MW.
