Dangote cement production hits 30mmt across Africa

Basking in the euphoria of the successful inauguration of his plants in Cameroon and Senegal recently, President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote has disclosed that the Dangote Cement annual production across Africa is now 30 million Metric Tons, a feat that is earning Nigeria respect among the comity of nations.

Speaking at the just concluded Kaduna International Trade Fair, Mr. Dangote said for the Nigerian market, the Dangote Cement controls about 65 per cent market share; and about 30 per cent of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

According to him, his company plans big for the African economy, saying Africans must look inward and put their human and natural resources to best use, rather than political conflicts.

The President of Dangote Group, who was represented by the Group’s Executive Director, Engineer Mansur Ahmad, said the Group’s cement production has since surpassed Nigeria’s average total consumption of about 20milion metric tons, even as he said that Nigeria under-consumes the cement product when compared to other African, Asian and European countries.

He said the company has commenced production of the cement in some African countries which include Senegal, Cameroon and South Africa, adding that by the time it completes its projects in eleven other African countries, the conglomerate’s total production would have surpassed 50mmt.
