Dangote Cement to hit the market before 2014 ends

The Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote on November 1, 2014, took a brief tour of the construction of his cement plant at the banks of the Wouri River in Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon. This time, the industrialist promised that the first bags of cement of Dangote Cement will be in the Cameroonian market before the end of the year 2014.

According to him, the delays in the start-up of the activities of this cement plant, originally scheduled to be put into service in January 2014, and then August and finally October 2014, are essentially technical. It is because of problems of the congestion at the port of Douala, which slowed the import of equipment for the construction and installation of the plant, he noted.

However, to date, says the team at work in Douala, Dangote cement is "conducted 90%." Faced with this observation made during his brief tour from November 1st, the Nigerian billionaire praised the efforts of the members of his working team in Cameroon, as well as the public authorities, who "worked hand in hand towards the successful outcome of the project.

For a start, the Dangote factory in Douala, that has engulfed 50 billion Cfa francs, will permanently employ 77 Cameroonian, 11 expatriates and about 250 temporary workers each month.
