After eight months of experimentation, the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) made the withdrawal from circulation of laminated bills.

From the beginning of 2015 BEAC, in order to solve the problem of small change, had started under the user demand and trader circulating plasticized tickets small cuts (500, 1,000 and 2,000 FCFA). After eight months of use, the results may seem encouraging.

"We realized they age relatively quickly, the material that was set does not take long. Once the debt is retired, it gives pain to users who think that the ticket is not authentic." These remarks were made by an internal anonymous source in BEAC.

A mea culpa from the financial institution that will likely push production of stronger and more malleable tickets especially as the plastic that covered these cuts was deteriorating very quickly. All of which questioned the authenticity of the tickets. Thus, in the coming months, the new bank notes of 500, 1,000 and 2,000 FCFA will emerge.
