The construction of the second bridge over the Wouri River has been delayed.

This is what emerged from the evaluation meeting of the works held at the banquet hall of the Governor of the Littoral region on Thursday, September 17, 2015, in Douala.

The meeting was chaired by Joseph Beti Assomo and other personalities involved in the construction of the second bridge over the Wouri River.

It was clear from this meeting that after the accident which occurred on the site a few months ago, work experienced a slight delay. It has so far made an overall progress of 47%, the time consumed is 57% for a financial progress rate of 42%. Yet about 36 months previously provided for construction of the bridge, 19.5 months have already been consumed.

However, sources revealed that the signing of an additional market by October 1 may make the completion date of the work, which is January 31, 2018, possible. Similarly, some difficulties encountered in the realization of this project were noted. They were aministrative problems including the signing of this additional market that is highly anticipated.

As possible solutions, Joseph Beti Assomo, Governor of the Littoral Region, noted down some recommendations.

As a reminder, the members of the cell of concessionaires namely Eneo and Camwater must now address the concerns that refer to their respective companies during meetings. The transmission to the high hierarchy of the emergency support measures for expropriations and public awareness on the release of allowances are maintained.

Despite this delay, the players remain positive, "we lag behind on the work of the bridge due to the accident that occurred, but as we go, we think we will meet the deadlines," Simon Peter Mousnoum, regional delegate of Public Works said.

In addition to the construction of the second bridge, the details were given on those in the East and West entrance. Regarding the East entrance, Nejib Ben Souissi of Sect Tunisia stated that the progress rate is 70% for a consumption period which amounts to 73% and 57.45% for the financial progress rate.

The West entrance, whose construction spans nearly 13 km of urban roads, in particular, is experiencing a low rate. Officials noted that to this effect, a rate of progress of the work is 47%, the time consumed is 57% and the financial progress rate has increased up to 42%.
