Cmr discusses development with international partners

The review of international cooperation which opened on Monday focused on its adaptation to the OCSG.

For four days, Cameroonian and international cooperation officials will assess the impact of the report which Yaoundé maintains with various countries and world organizations in order to develop Cameroon.

This second review of joint performance of the partnership for development, after 2012 was organized since yesterday in Yaounde around a few objectives and guidelines that the Minister in charge of the economy, planning and land use (Minepat) Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, summarized to the participants.

The review, he explained, is a platform for dialogue and confrontation of ideas. It puts in place best cooperative exchanges between Cameroon and its partners, in accordance with the international process established for this purpose since 2011. In does this in such a way that for ordinary Cameroonians, economic growth of return (5.6% in 2013) materializes in everyday life, while maintaining it upward curve as long as possible.

Experts will first assess the implementation of the recommendations of the last exercise of this type. It had indeed been a question of insufficient ownership of programmes and development projects of harmonization of interventions management focused on results.

Certainly, the reforms conducted in the area of public finances are notable, said the Coordinator of the system of the United Nations in Cameroon, Najat Rochdi, on behalf of the development partners. But, she hastened to add, "we can do better", in an international environment suddenly deteriorated because of Boko Haram terrorism, floods, the influx of refugees...

Today, to make a few steps more, to implement the strategy for growth and employment (OCSG) paper, the Yaoundé meeting will focus on governance, infrastructure, industries and services, social development and the rural world.

The Minister Nganou Djoumessi specially requested the Assembly to focus on subsequent issues of low competitiveness of the national productive sector and the high cost of factors of production.

In addition to the journal, the Minepat signed with the Ambassador of France and the Director of the French Development Agency a grant of approximately 40 billion which will notably serve to improve mobility in the towns of Bafoussam and Bertoua-Garoua.
