Cameroon subsidizes the price of gas for $33 billion in 2013

At the oil price stabilization fund, the campaign for an explanation of the increase in the price of hydrocarbons in Cameroon decided last July is still the order of the day.

And taking advantage of his appearance at the salon of entrepreneurship for SMEs (Promote), a conference-debate was organized, for the press and the general public.

Waziri Hassan, head of the Department of Economic Affairs of the HSPC persisted in indicating that Cameroon has not really bowed to pressure from the IMF as it is often believed, but can no longer continue to suffer the weight of grant on oil products.

It was reported that in 2013, the State of Cameroon subsidized the price of gas to the tune of $ 33 billion, permitting the product to be sold previously at 6000F.

"Had it not been for the rise in prices, the subsidy would have been even greater in 2014", indicated Waziri Hassan. The problem here is that «Sonara produces only 20% of Cameroonian domestic gas», informed Christophe Ze Nguele, head of the Department of technical Affairs of the HSPC.
