Cameroon /South Africa. business cooperation intensifies

A delegation of the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry in South Africa visited Douala to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the business sector.

The Delegation comprised of the Director of East and Central Africa Department of Trade and Industry, Lebogang Makoloi and the Representative of the Mayor of Durban, Stanley Xulu were received by the Vice President of CCIMA Ekoko Mukete.

The businessmen discussed Cameroon / South Africa business ties both in the public and the private sector with the aim of enhancing it.

Among many decisions taken during the meetings, the delegations agreed to offer better business opportunities in the two countries with emphasis placed on construction and engineering, infrastructure, tourism, pharmaceutical, health care and mining sectors.

The Representative of the Mayor of Durban, Stanley Xulu, said Durban is rich in mineral resources like gold and coal an opportunity for Cameroonian businessmen to grasp.

The new partnership according to experts will boost the balance of trade between both countries.

The Forum was also a fertile ground to regulate the Balance of Trade between the two countries given that South Africa gains 58 billion FCFA from Cameroon as revenue for export as opposed to Cameroon’s 1billion FCFA gained as revenue from South Africa’s export.
