The National Airline Company (CAMAIR-CO) has been chosen to transport Cameroonian pilgrims to Mecca.
In a press release on Monday, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization (MINATD), René Emmanuel Sadi, also Chairman of the National Hajj Commission (CNH) asked pilgrims to contact CAMAIR-CO where all appropriate arrangements have been made.
The flights will essentially depart from the Douala International Airport, where pilgrims will be required to pay about 800 000 FCFA to visit this Holy Place of Islam.
To ensure the transport of 3000 pilgrims, CAMAIR-CO has strengthened its fleet, with the return of the Boeing 767 - 200 which was under maintenance in Europe for a few days, and also leased aircraft.
This strengthening of the fleet could allow CAMAIR-CO ensure an average of two flights daily bound for Saudi Arabia with the objective being to enable all pilgrims to honour one of the five pillars of Islam.
The first contingents of about 600 pilgrims left Cameroon last week from Garoua in the North to Mecca.
