CMR has low trade impact in Switzerland - Swiss Amb.

The impact of Cameroon in Switzerland foreign trade remains extremely low, according to Dr. Claude Altermatt, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Switzerland in Cameroon. He added that trade relations between the two countries are in surplus in favour of his country.

With the aim of rebalancing commerce, the Confederation plans to rebalance trade. It is in this context that it has created a Chamber of Commerce referred to as: Chamber of Commerce Switzerland-Cameroon (Swisscam).

The structure was officially launched on Tuesday in Yaoundé by Dr. Claude Altermatt, during a business lunch. This 5th edition which came with the theme: "Balance Switzerland-Cameroon commerce: trade barriers and solutions was massively attended by government officials, businessmen and the media.

Dr. Claude Altermatt, also honorary president of the consular Chamber spoke at length on the status of trade relations between Cameroon and his country, 20th world economic power with a liberal economy.

Established in Cameroon for many years, Switzerland has invested in many sectors i.e. agribusiness, automotive, wood cosmetic. But for the Confederation, the relationship must not be only one-way.

Certainly, obstacles such as the high cost of the Swiss currency still exist, but the country wants to defy them. "We want to ensure conditions frameworks for trade and a high security of investments by supporting exports from Cameroon to the Switzerland", announced the diplomat.

Swisscam which will be based in Douala will constitute a privileged platform for the promoting and revitalization of trade between Cameroon and Switzerland.

"We have created an accompaniment device import and promotion of imports: the Swiss import promotion program", explained Bonheur Hiol, Honorary Consul of Switzerland in Douala.

The Switzerland Confederation scheduled yet another appointment next June for another business lunch.
