CDE announces water supply project for 18 cities

The CDE has announced that soon, 14,000 households from 18 cities in Cameroon will be connected to the water distribution network of Cameroonian waters.

This operation aims to promote access to drinking water for the most disadvantaged social groups, and, until September 2016, according to a statement available on the official website of the CDE.

Areas affected by the transaction are cities in Sangmélima Ebolowa in the South Region, Akono Bafia and Ngoumou, in the center, Loum, Manjoo, Mbanga and Nkongsamba (Littoral Region) Bafang, Bangangté, Bana, Bangou , Bansoa / Penka Michel and Foumban in western Cameroon, Kumba and Mamfe in the south-west region and finally Kousseri, located in the Far North.

The project financed by the African Development Bank (ADB) in partnership with the Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation (CAMWATER) according to the CDE, allowed not to realize less than 3004 branches in Douala at reduced rates since the beginning of 2015 (as of May 5).

Recently, the World Bank has financed up to seven billion FCFA extending the CAMWATER network. This enabled a 5% increase in the supply rate. The project has achieved in two phases 270 km extension in Yaounde, Douala and 87 km to 294 km in the secondary centers.

Some 80,000 households were able to connect to the network for 800,000 people supplied with drinking water in all communities affected by the project.
