Remi Depoix, chairman of Céréalis, revealed that the French company Céréalis has specialized in the trading of grain exports to Cameroon about 200 000 tonnes of wheat each year.
"It is about 20% of the turnover of Céréalis," he said during an interview with the Quotidien de l’Economie newspaper.
Clearly, with about 200 million euros (FCFA 131 billion) per year, the company achieved a turnover in Central and West Africa (for highest wheat exports to one million tonnes per year). Céréalis exports Wheat in Cameroon, for about FCFA 26 billion each year.
According to Remi Depoix, over the next 10 years, Céréalis intends to double its turnover in both markets, with Cameroon as a bridgehead of the new markets.
"There is a remarkable industrial milling in Cameroon with a dozen major players. There are mills that will open soon and others will reopen after closing. This activity is very important because it develops a process of re-export to Chad, the Central African Republic and even to Nigeria," he said.
As a reminder, since the closure of the Wheat Development Corporation (Sodeblé) in the 90s, Cameroon imports all corn consumed in its territory. In 2012, for example, official statistics showed imports of more than 517,000 tons, for about FCFA 102 billion.
