With 60 licensed offices throughout the national territory, the insurance brokerage represents "nearly 50% of sales" and "nearly 40% of employees” in the insurance sector in Cameroon.
These statistics are from Leopoldina Fondop Ngoulla, president of the Association of Professional Insurance Brokers and Reinsurance of Cameroon (Apcar).
Intermediary between the insurance company and the insured (usually companies), the insurance broker is an expert who accompanies the insured to "demystify insurance contracts and simplify the process which may seem complex," said President of Apcar.
From this point of view, she continued that the insurance broker "has knowledge to identify, organize and manage contracts, underwriting the settlement of claims and potential litigation."
As a reminder, the rate of insurance penetration in Cameroon barely exceeds 2% officially.
