Bamenda Industrial Zone construction works at 50%

Construction works at the Bamenda industrial zone located at Mile 6 Nkwen covering 44 hectares of land has been evaluated at 50 percent.

The evaluation of works at the site was carried out by officials of the Institution for the Management of Industrial Zones MAGZI during a working visit in the region.

During the visit, it was observed that about 1.3km of road, leading to the site has been tarred with bridges and culverts built, electricity has been installed while 21 pillars have been planted around the industrial zone.

The Technical Adviser at MAGZI Ndifor Tita said there are ongoing studies to install other facilities like water amongt others that will make the zone a convenient place for industrial activities.

He added that in 2012 MAGZI paid FCFA 220 million to the people that had land in that area as compensation.

The General Manager of MAGZI, Christol Georges Manon, on his part noted that the Bamenda industrial site will go operational by mid-2016 as more than 50 % of the work has been done

He thanked the people of Nkwen for their cooperation will calling on other custodians of the lands in the region to offer more because many companies are applying and the 44 hectares will not be enough to accommodate all the applicants

The Secretary General in the North West Governor’s office, Absalom Monono Woloua challenged MAGZI to speed up works on the site as the people of the region are anxious since the activities will create job opportunities and help contribute to development
