In its last quarterly report on the evolution of the economic activity in Cameroon, the National Directorate of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) projects a reduction in the 2015-2016 cocoa production in the country of about 20,000 tons.

According to forecasts by the institute of the six Member States of CEMAC during the 2015-2016 cocoa campaign which began August 2015 and ends mid-July 2016, the national cocoa production will culminate in approximately 210 000 tonnes, against a little more than 232 000 tonnes in 2014-2015.

The origin of this downward forecast, which is similar to that of the National Office of Cocoa and Coffee Board (NCCB), the cocoa campaign corresponds to the period of vegetative rest of cocoa, which occurs every 5 years, stressed experts of the sector.
