Area launches insurance for smartphones and tablets

The Cameroonian insurance company, Area Assurances SA, announced the launch of a new insurance policy to insure smartphones and tablets.

Dubbed "Area Smartphone Secure", this insurance policy provides benefits from 7000 Cfa francs per year, revealed a manager of the company.

According to officials of the insurance company who met at the International exhibition of SMEs and the International partnership in Yaoundé (Promote 2014), through this policy, if the insured person loses his phone or Tablet he receives, within 48 h, a phone or a Tablet equivalent to the lost object.

Similarly, added our source, thanks to the application 'Esther App Mobile' installed in the phone when subscribing, the insurance company renders full (Sim and phone) directory of the insured. Furthermore, through the application, a system of tracking of the phone is launched, with aims to recover it from any thief.

In Cameroon, there are currently no statistics on the number of smartphones in circulation. But, according to the Telecom regulation Agency (ART), more than 16 million Cameroonians are subscribed to mobile phone.
