Agropole project takes steps towards emergence

The Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, has stated that for the Agropole Project to be very effective, it needs to articulate its support in infrastructures of supplement and in input with other prizes defined by the institutions.

Minister Nganou Djoumessi was speaking in Yaoundé, while installing the new National Coordinator of the Project.

The Minister said after two years, Agropole has recorded some successes amongst which are; the production of soya beans, table eggs, chicken, pork and rice. According to him,Agropole is out to help reduce the prices in the agricultural sector.

“It is for this reason that I have decided to appoint Adrian Ngo’o Bitomo, as the new National Coordinator to help rural enterprises in Cameroon flourish,” the Minister said.

Before his appointment, the Agricultural Engineer has been working as an Attaché to the Secretary General at the Prime Minister’s Office. He was responsible for the promotion of Agricultural Exploitations of Average Importance, EAMI, in the East Region, and Regional Chief of Service of Rural Engineering and Community Development in the South Region.

Minister Nganou Djoumessi exhorted the new National Coordinator of Agropole to be assiduous, hard working and to work in synergy with the Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development and Livestock, Fishery and Animal Industries, for them to prosper in their animal and vegetable production activities.

On his apart, Adrian Ngo’o Bitomo said, “The Agropole Project means a lot to me. Since the creation of the Project by the Head of State the 2012 Agric Show in Ebolowa, he instructed Cameroonians to try and save the currencies that are going outside for the importation of fish. So the Project is an opportunity and also a challenge for me to improve on our agricultural outputs. I have a team that has been reinforced and I think that we will be able to carry out the task that has been assigned to us.”

It should be recalled that the Agropole Project is a Government programme, which emphasizes on the Global Strategy for the increase in agro-pastoral products. It is an important economic development programme of the country that stresses on the promotion of rural sector enterprises in Cameroon.
