Despite many efforts by those responsible for Family Planning (FP) in the region of Adamawa and some partners of public health, modern contraceptive prevalence remains low.

According to a survey conducted locally by component II of the project to support reproductive health in 2015, only 10.6% of people in Adamawa use contraceptive methods.

Although it occupies 8th place nationally and in the northern part 1èr, much remains to be done.

The same survey revealed that in 2015, the region has used 192,000 condoms, 117,000 of pills, IUDs 171, 743 implants and 32 voluntary surgical contraception (VSC). For a population of inhabitants 1,183,551, this result is insufficient, according to the team in charge of family planning.

Out of the nine health districts in the region, seven are covered by family planning service and the project to support the reproductive health (Pasar).

The Djohong and Bankim health districts are still waiting for the extension program of family planning. To this end, several factors impede the use of contraceptive methods.

In this case, health workers talk about the lack of access to health services and reproductive frequent shortages of family planning products.
