Seven cartons of frozen chicken were seized by the Mobile Intervention Group during a check on a cargo of frozen chickens at the entrance to Douala, yesterday.

The shipment of 7 boxes of frozen chickens, 74 kg in total, were presented to the regional MINEPIA by police officials. Violators were interrogated by the judicial police in Douala.

The police were tipped by a reliable source, who referred to the entrance of a large shipment of chicken in the city of Douala. From Kye-Ossi, in the Ntem Valley, Southern Region, the cargo which was transported by bus to a travel agency was to be sent to Douala for delivery.

It was a significant amount of frozen chicken as four large carriers were responsible for conveying them to a safe harbor. But the police had been given the information.

Yesterday, at around 8 am, the first vehicle which was carrying 74 kg of cargo, was stopped by the Gmi at Yassa control.

The import of frozen chicken in Cameroon was prohibited since 2006.
