206,391 tonnes of banana exported by end of October

Pool of banana producers in Cameroon exported 206,391 tonnes between January and October 2014, announced the banana Association of Cameroon (Assobacam).

Leader in production, with peaks of 120,000 tonnes a year, the plantations of Haut Penja (PHP) company, a subsidiary of the fruit company of Marseille, tops the rank with 84,950 tonnes exported by 31 October 2014.

The Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC), the food company, is the second largest exporter with 67,689 tonnes. The CDC, which is allied with the American Del Monte in its banana sector services, also produces rubber and oil palm. 2nd employer in the country after the State, the CDC was ahead of the company's banana plantations Mbomé (44,076 tonnes) in relation to exports in the first ten months of the year 2014.

According to the curve of the Assobacam exports, the month of May, 2014 was the most flourishing for Cameroonian producers with 10,431 tonnes exported by the PHP against 10,520 tonnes for the CDC.
