Cosmos de Bafia ejects KCCA FC out of Champions League

Uganda’s KCCA FC are out of the 2015 CAF Champions League after falling 3-0 away to Cameroon’s Cosmos De Bafia on Sunday.

The Cameroon team that lost 1-0 in the first leg scored in the first half through Cyrille Ekambi before adding two more goals on resumption. The visitors tried to fight back and enjoyed most of the possession in the remaining 15 minutes but without managing to pull an equaliser back before the break.

The locals doubled their lead at the Reunification stadium in the 70th, Francis Tombi heading home a corner kick from left-back Simeu.

And as Cosmos wanted more and kept the pressure on, Tombi added to the Ugandans misery on the stroke of full time to make it 3-0.

“We had some many missed chances in the game and got punished,” Head Coach Abudallah Mubiru told AfricanFootball.com.

KCCA FC joined other East African teams that bowed out in the preliminary round like Azam FC who were ejected by Al Merriekh, KMKM of Zanzibar and Burundi’s LLB Academic.

Cosmos De Bafia will now face Tunisia’s Esperance in the first round of the lucrative competition.
