PCC Bastos christians urged to have hope in God

Easter Sunday was marked by church services and feasting in most homes.

Christians in Cameroon joined their peers in the world to celebrate Easter Sunday yesterday April 5, 2015. The day was marked by church services and feasting in most Christian homes. At the PCC Bastos congregation in Yaounde thousands of Christians thronged the church premises as early as 8:00 a.m. to take part in the special Easter church service.

In his sermon, the Parish Pastor, Rev. Emmanuel B. Masok reflecting on the theme “rise up, O church of God” said Christ is risen the church of God must rise victorious over the taunts of the devil. Drawing from the Gospel of St. Mark in the Bible he said the great gift of Easter is hope and that if there is no resurrection there is no Christianity. He said Easter is a time to rewrite the histories of their spiritual journey as it takes a turn.

He called on Christians of the PCC to queue in on the season’s happenings and help redeem their fatherland. He called on Christians in public and private places to be ambassadors of the risen Christ and to pray for against the killings of Cameroonians Christians.

“Christ is our hop. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song,” he said. Rev. Masok prayed for God’s deliverance and that the God of Easter will lift the Christians up spiritually and bring a new beginning for the Christians.

The Sacrament of Baptism was administered to some Christians. There was equally a communion service. The Easter celebration began with the Holy Week on Palm Sunday. Several religious were organised in and out of the church. The Easter Sunday service crowned 40 days of intense prayer and fasting during Lent.
