Muslim faithfuls in Limbe seek God’s guidance and protection

Joining their counterparts the world over, Muslim faithfuls in Limbe, on Saturday, October 4, celebrated the feast of the ram, in remembrance of Abraham’s faithfulness and obedience to God.

The faithfuls gathered at several prayer grounds in the city, during which in a solemn manner, they offered prayers to the Almighty God.

At the prayer ground at Saker Street new town, hundreds of Muslims prayed and listened to the special message delivered by Imam Zachary, during which he urged the faithfuls to seek God’s guidance and protection in all they do, as whoever is not guided by God, cannot be guided by any other person.

Imam Zachary reminded the faithfuls that there is only one God who has no partner, and who commands for justice and good deeds, and who requires them to keep themselves free from shameful deeds.

At the end of the brief prayer session which was observed by Fako administrators, a ram was slaughtered to mark the beginning of the feast.

After the prayers, a host of the faithful gathered at the residence of Chief Abdoulaye Njingi, where he offered a fellowship meal with his brethren.

Talking about the significance of the feast, Chief Abdoulaye said it is a sign that both Muslim and Christians have one God, as Muslims sacrifice the ram in practice of what Abraham did. As they celebrated, the Chief called on the faithful to be careful with the kind of friends they keep, as some of their brothers are using the religion for their own selfish interest.

Also after the prayers at the Bamoun mosque in new town, a host of the Bamouns assembled at the residence of their leader, Chief Mousande, where they communed with him, and they slaughtered a ram, in significance of the day’s celebration. According to Chief Mousande, the day’s event is all about sacrifice in obedience to God, though it is not a must for all, as not everybody can provide a ram, reason why they share with their brothers who do not have the means to celebrate.

Talba Malla celebrates After joining his brothers for prayers in the morning, in his usual simple and friendly nature, the General Manager of the National Oil Refining Company SONARA, Ibrahim Talba Malla and wife, offered a huge reception at their residence, which was marked with pomp and colour.

Present at the reception ground were some Muslim faithfuls, top officials of the Fako administration, General Managers, SONARA workers and a host of friends, who wine and dine with the GM, as they thanked God for His guidance and protection over Cameroon.
