Women of the Apostolic Church create network

The Department of Christian Women’s Union (DUFC) of the Apostolic Church in Cameroon have organised a two-day workshop that brought together women associations from other protestant churches to put in place a gender and development network.

The network will not only render them financially autonomous, but will also enhance their position in the church and the society. The President of DUFC, Mbatchou Henriette, said union is strength and “it is for this reason that Christians belonging to the Protestant Council of Churches in Cameroon-CEPCA and those of the World Prayer Day-JMP in Cameroon, have come together to reflect on the content and functioning of the network, and put in place a focal point to head the network,” she added.

To Lucie Pochangou, in charge of the project, they saw that it was time to integrate other women associations in protestant churches having the same vision.

“Since 2010 the Department of Christian Women’s Union (DUFC) of the Apostolic Church in Cameroon put in place a programme to ameliorate women standard of living by encouraging and training women to be actors of their future. We noticed that we were not alone working on gender and development and decided to integrate women from other denominations to work as a synergy in order to multiply our efforts and share experiences for the progress of the woman,” she disclosed.
